Car accidents may stem from speeding

On Behalf of | Aug 4, 2017 | Car Accident Injuries |

Sadly, a man recently lost his life in a motor vehicle accident in Texas. His family members are now left to grieve and question how the man’s life could have been taken so soon. Sometimes these types of car accidents occur due to the carelessness of another motorist on the road, in which case the negligent motorist may be held liable through the civil court system.

The Texas accident occurred on a Friday. According to police, a 35-year-old semi-truck driver changed lanes unsafely on the Interstate 69C and Interstate 2 interchange. That is when the truck driver reportedly clipped a car from behind.

The truck driver also hit two other cars before he was able to come to a complete stop. According to the police’s preliminary investigation of the accident, speed was a causal factor in the crash. The individual occupying the first car that was hit ended up dying in the crash. Meanwhile, the truck driver and four other adults were taken to the hospital with injuries. The truck driver was arrested with his bond set at a total of $150,000.

The surviving loved ones of the car driver who died appear to have grounds to file a wrongful death claim against the truck driver, seeking damages. The truck driver’s employer may also be named in the lawsuit. Liability needs to be established before a Texas civil court before claims for damages will be determined. Monetary damages may help address funeral costs and other monetary losses typically associated with these types of car accidents.
