Car accidents may involve disabled cars

On Behalf of | Oct 26, 2017 | Car Accident Injuries |

A car accident in Texas recently led to a woman’s tragic death. The car collision occurred on a Tuesday at about 9 a.m. These types of car accidents sometimes occur because a particular driver was careless. In this situation, the negligent driver may be held liable for any injuries and deaths resulting from the accident.

According to police, a woman, 44, was pushing a disabled car. All of a sudden, an SUV struck her. The accident took place on a boulevard right in front of a high school.

The woman who was hit was taken to a medical center. However, she ended up passing away upon her arrival there. The driver involved in the accident, who is 21 years old, was transported to the hospital with only minor injuries. Police reported that he will receive a citation for his role in the accident. However, they continued to investigate the fatal collision.

The surviving family members of the woman who passed away in the Texas motor vehicle collision may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the 21-year-old driver, seeking damages. Competent proof of negligence — such as driving too quickly for road conditions — is required to establish liability before the civil court hearing the case. Only then will monetary damage claims be determined. A monetary award could be useful for covering funeral costs and other losses related to these types of car accidents. Although an award cannot undo the events leading to the woman’s death, it may help the surviving family members to more easily move forward from the tragic incident.
