Car accidents may occur due to failure to stop at stop sign

One teenager recently lost her life in a motor vehicle crash in Texas. Now, her surviving loved ones are left to question how such a fatal accident could have taken place. Two other people suffered injuries in the collision as well. These types of car accidents may occur due to the carelessness of another driver, in which case, the other driver may be held liable for the injuries or deaths resulting from the crash.

The recent Texas car accident took place at about 6:50 p.m. on a Saturday. According to authorities, a girl, 16, was driving along the U.S. 60 service road. A woman, 55, was driving south along FM-2373 at around the same time.

Police said the teenager blew through a stop sign located at the intersection of these two roads. She then reportedly entered the path of the woman’s truck. Authorities said the woman could not avoid the crash and thus struck the teenager’s car’s passenger side, causing the motor vehicle to flip.

The woman suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, the teenager driver and her female passenger, 16, were also taken to the hospital with injuries. However, the teenage passenger ended up dying due to the injuries sustained in the collision. Authorities continued to investigate the wreck.

The surviving loved ones of the deceased teenage passenger may opt to file a wrongful death claim against the teenage driver, seeking damages. Likewise, the injured woman who was driving the truck at the time of the accident may file a personal injury claim. Competent proof of negligence is needed to establish liability before the civil court, as only then will the court adjudicate claims for monetary damages. A successfully fought suit may lead to a monetary award that might help to cover burial costs, hospital bills and other losses linked to these types of car accidents.
