Crayons, toy cars among recently recalled defective products

A couple of items designed for children to enjoy were recently recalled due to defects in them. The first recall of defective products, which may impact Texas consumers, involves crayons. The second one covers toy cars.

In the case of the first recall, Discount School Supply decided to recall around 2,200 Colorations extra-large crayons, as the red crayons might contain glass. As a result, these crayons may cut their users. The company has already received a couple of reports about red crayons containing glass, although there have been no reported injuries. The items were sold online at the company's website between June 2017 and October 2017.

The second recall specifically involves toy Porsches. Porsche chose to recall around 1,700 Porsche cars made from wood because the axles and wheels may detach from them. As a result, young children may choke on these parts. So far, the company has received no reports of injuries or incidents. These wooden cars were sold at dealers of Porsche motor vehicles across the country as well as online.

Unfortunately, sometimes defective products end up in consumers' homes, posing serious risks to their users. If a consumer in Texas suffers an injury due to using a defective product, he or she has the right to file a product liability claim against the product manufacturer, seeking damages. An understanding of what facts have to be proved is likely necessary to prevail in this type of liability case. A monetary award in a successfully litigated claim may help to cover medical costs, the loss of wages and other losses stemming from the use of the dangerous product.
