Two men recently lost their lives in a tragic head-on motor vehicle crash in Texas. Now, their grieving family members are left wondering how these types of car accidents could so quickly take their loved ones from them. The head-on collision, which involved a pickup truck and a car, took place during the early morning hours along a rural highway.
The accident took place at 7 a.m. on a recent Tuesday. It occurred between County Road 380 and County Road 360 along U.S. Highway 79. According to police, a 33-year-old man was headed east along the highway in a compact car.
All of a sudden, the car breached the road’s center line. It then crashed into a westbound pickup truck driven by a 79-year-old man. Both men passed away at the accident scene.
The surviving loved ones of the older man may decide to file a wrongful death claim, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained in the accident. Even though the younger man who reportedly caused the accident also ended up dying in the crash, his estate may still be sued. Likewise, anyone with an ownership interest in the car he was driving might be named as a defendant in the litigation. A successfully fought claim, based upon a showing of negligence, might lead to a monetary award that may help with addressing funeral costs, the loss of income for surviving dependents and other losses stemming from these types of car accidents in Texas. It cannot undo the events leading to the crash, but it may help the grieving family members of the older deceased victim to more easily move on from the tragedy.
