Car accidents may occur due to running red light

On Behalf of | Jul 5, 2018 | Car Accident Injuries |

A high schooler’s life was recently snuffed out in a tragic car crash that took place in Texas. The collision occurred in the area of Highway 69 and County Road 474. The high school student was 15. These types of car accidents sometimes occur due to a motorist’s carelessness, which is grounds for litigation in the Lone Star State.

The motor vehicle collision took place at around 6:50 a.m. on a Monday. According to authorities, a car blew through a red light. The car ended up colliding with another car as a result.

The 15-year-old high schooler who passed away in the crash was apparently riding in one of the cars involved in the collision. Burial services were scheduled for her for the Friday following the crash. Authorities continued to investigate the cause of the fatal collision.

The grieving loved ones of the girl who died in the crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the driver who reportedly ran the red light, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. Competent proof of negligence is necessary to establish liability before the civil court hearing the wrongful death case in Texas. Once liability has been established, damage claims will be adjudicated.

A monetary award in a successfully fought wrongful death claim in Texas cannot undo the unfortunate events that led to the victim’s death. However, it can help the victim’s surviving family members to address funeral costs and other expenses stemming from these types of fatal car accidents. Monetary damages might also help with addressing emotional distress as well as pain and suffering resulting from the collision, thus enabling the surviving family members to more easily move on from the ordeal.
