Drunk driving may lead to fatal car accidents in Texas

On Behalf of | Dec 19, 2018 | Car Accident Injuries |

A woman’s life has sadly been snuffed out in Texas as a result of a serious motor vehicle accident. According to authorities, the fatal accident occurred due to another man’s decision to drive while intoxicated. These types of car accidents are grounds for litigation in the Lone Star State.

According to authorities, a woman, 23, was driving a sport utility vehicle on a street with her son, 1, and her mother. However, all of a sudden, a man, 19, reportedly struck her head-on with a pickup truck. Police said that the accident occurred after the man went across three traffic lanes.

The woman passed away at the crash scene. Meanwhile, her mother, 48, and her child were transported to a medical center, where their conditions were deemed serious. The man now faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter in connection with the fatal auto collision.

The surviving loved ones of the woman who passed away in the Texas motor vehicle crash may decide to file a wrongful death claim against the man who reportedly caused the accident, seeking damages. In addition, the man may face personal injury claims filed by the mother and on behalf of the baby injured in the accident. If the man is convicted on his manslaughter charge, proof of the conviction may be presented with the goal of establishing liability in civil court. A successfully litigated claim may lead to monetary damages that might help with covering burial costs, hospital bills and other losses tied to these kinds of car accidents.
