Claire’s dangerous, defective products pulled from shelves

Consumers with children in the tween age group in Texas may be affected by a recent product recall involving Claire’s jewelry. The accessory company recently decided to pull products from its store locations after these products were found to have asbestos in them. Dangerous or defective products such as these can unfortunately lead to major health issues.

Claire’s announced its product recall on its site as well as on Twitter a little before Christmas. The company said it was conducting an investigation into the asbestos. In the meantime, it was accepting the dangerous products back and agreed to issue refunds.

The asbestos was found because a mother in another state became suspicious about what was in her daughter’s Claire’s makeup. She thus sent the makeup to a laboratory. She learned that the makeup featured cancer-causing asbestos.

Customers in Texas and elsewhere trust that the products they buy from store shelves have been tested and are safe for them to use. However, this is not always the case, as dangerous and defective products can easily make their way to store shelves. Those harmed as a result of using dangerous items have the right to file product liability claims, seeking damages. Although monetary compensation cannot undo the events leading to the harm that a product user suffers, it may help the victim to experience a sense of justice in light of the ordeal. Financial damages may also help with addressing medical bills and even pain and suffering from the use of the dangerous product.
