A car collision recently claimed a woman’s and a man’s life in Texas. In addition, two other people suffered grave injuries in the car accident. Sometimes, these types of car accidents happen due to someone’s carelessness behind the wheel, which is grounds for civil litigation in the Lone Star State.
The recent fatal Texas crash occurred at around 4 p.m. along State Highway 70. According to police, a 55-year-old woman was going north on the highway and suddenly went over the middle line. She reportedly entered the highway’s southbound lane and collided head-on with another car that was going south on the highway.
The woman passed away at the crash scene. Meanwhile, the 50-year-old man driving the other car suffered serious injuries and was said to be in stable condition. One of the two people who were riding with the man was taken to the hospital, but the 29-year-old male passenger ended up passing away there. The second passenger in the man’s car, 33, was also seriously injured and remained in critical condition. Everyone involved in the accident was reportedly wearing a seat belt when the crash happened.
The police’s investigation might reveal that the Texas accident occurred because the female driver was negligent by driving while distracted or speeding, for example. In this situation, the injured parties may decide to file personal injury claims following the accident; likewise, the surviving loved ones of the male passenger who died may choose to file a wrongful death claim, seeking damages. Even though the woman who reportedly caused the accident died in the crash, a lawsuit may still be filed against her estate and anyone else with an ownership interest in the car she was driving when the crash occurred. A case that is litigated successfully may lead to damages that might be used to address hospital bills, burial costs and other losses linked to these types of car accidents.
