Toys R Us wiggle balls considered defective products

Consumers in Texas may be impacted by a recent Toys R Us toy recall. The store has decided to recall about 30,000 wiggle balls, which also go by the name of giggle balls. These defective products are being recalled because they may cause infants to choke.

The toys being recalled are called Bruin Infant Wiggle Balls. At this point, deaths in connection with the use of the dangerous toys have not been reported. However, the company has received six reports of rubber knobs that have broken off. These include four reports about product pieces being found in the mouths of children.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the plastic back of the ball also has the ability to detach. These items were marketed at Babies R Us and Toys R Us stores throughout the United States between June of 2016 and January of 2017. Those who have purchased the balls are instructed to quit using them and return them to their stores for complete refunds.

Manufacturers are expected to produce safe products for consumers to use. Sometimes, however, defective products end up on store shelves and thus in consumers’ homes, and consumers end up being injured as a result of using them. In such a situation, an injured consumer has the right to file a product liability claim against the maker of the product as well as those involved in the supply stream. A monetary award in a successfully litigated suit in Texas may help with covering medical costs associated with the injuries resulting from the use of the dangerous product.
