Car accidents may occur when center lines are breached

On Behalf of | Aug 2, 2018 | Car Accident Injuries |

A man recently lost his life in a Texas motor vehicle crash. Meanwhile, another man and a woman suffered injuries in the head-on collision. These types of car accidents sometimes take place due to a driver’s negligence, which is grounds for a liability lawsuit in the Lone Star State.

The crash took place at about 8:15 a.m. on a Tuesday. According to police, a man was driving his car south along FM 939, a country road. At the same time, a man and a woman were driving north along the road. All of a sudden, the first car reportedly breached the road’s center stripe.

Police said the first motor vehicle struck the second car head on, which caused the first car’s driver to die at the accident scene. The man and woman in the second car were injured and transported to the hospital. Police said they did not believe that the injuries were life threatening.

If police determine that the head-on accident occurred as a result of the first driver’s negligence — for example, the driver was driving too quickly for road conditions — then the injured parties may opt to file personal injury claims related to the accident. Even though the driver of the first car ended up passing away in the collision, a lawsuit may still be filed against his estate and anybody with an ownership interest in the car he was driving when the crash occurred. Liability must be established, based upon a showing of negligence, before the civil court in Texas hearing the case will determine claims for monetary damages associated with these types of car accidents.
